Hi My name is Bert Rowley and I have been passionate about all things tennis since childhood. Having grown up with a garden backing onto a club it was almost inevitable........
Having reached Middlesex county level and after many a tournament I went into coaching full time straight after school. And having learnt to string at 14 it was the next logical step to start stringing for clients. At one stage I was doing so at 4 clubs. So you are in safe hands and stringing fingers !
The first thing to do is decide whether you know what string and tension you want.
Don't panic if you have no idea. If that's the case you are welcome to call me directly. As a full time coach for over 20 years I can ask you a few questions and we can find the right set up.
If you know a bit then you can check out the string and tension descriptions before making your choice.
Then you can either pick up and drop off your racket from my address(Surbiton) or dorking tennis club.
Or you can do it via post. Simple order online and you will be sent a box to put your racket in, send to me and I will re post back to you.
String technology has changed massively over the last 20 years. Ever wondered why there are no more serve and volleyers.....
The invention of polyester strings has allowed players to hit a lot harder with a lot more spin. Thus making passing shots a lot more makable.
But they are not for everyone. If you hit the ball pretty flat then you may want a synthetic gut which has more feel and retains its tension longer. It is also softer on your arm especially during the winter months when the balls are wet and heavy.
In terms of tension the higher it is the more feel you will have but the less power and visa versa. Each racket has a recommended tension range that you will want to stay within.
You can request a specific tension or ask for help !
This is our wallet friendly polyester restring offering the best mix of durability, spin and feel on a budget. The string will come in either black or titanium colour. It may be our cheapest polyester but it's still a premium brand.

Please reach me at bertrowley@yahoo.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes ! People have often neglected their strings for so long it makes more of a difference than the racket that they are using.
This does depend on how often you play and how you play. But as a general rule if you play 2-3 times a week it should be at least 4 times a year.
Get in touch via e mail or phone. I can have a chat with you to establish how you play and how often. The correct strings and tension can then be figured out. Or if you know what you want place your order. It can be done by post or in person.
If you have questions about how often you should get a restring, what strings and what tension you need please get in touch. Happy to help with informed and friendly advice.
